A novel about a young man who comes to Berlin in 1973 to escape the military service. The 17 year old protagonist wants to become a famous chemist. His life is well organized until he meets Waltraut. This woman is an element he does not know from his experiments and books. She brings disorder to his world and everything is about to change.
