THE NOVEL
Bringsværd draws a scenario in the near future, in which todays Oslo is conserved as an amusement park called OLD TIMES, while the rest of the city around it has become a thoroughly technologized society. Everybodys looks and bodies are adjusted to the current fashion, and whoever does not want to be a woman or a man any longer, just transforms into the opposite sex.
In the midst of this colorful plot, main character P is employed as an "irrational element of action" in a publishing house. The actual writing is done by a computer, but it is Ps job to make sure that the storylines don´t turn out too straight. In private, P cultivates absurd theories, for example the one that human kind is really a big, intergalactic gang of pigs, hiding out on earth.
The problem is that P is actually being observed by the highest authorities, because in his head lies hidden the key to a well-kept secret...
THE AUTHOR

Tor Åge Bringsværd (*1939 in Skien) is one of the best-known Norwegian contemporary authors. He is also translated "Winnie-the-Pooh" into Norwegian.
The bizarre world of PUDER however, is more reminiscent of a successful mixture of Flann O’Brien and Douglas Adams.
