Johan Potma & Mateo
10 Things You Should Know About Zozoville:
1. Upon entering Zozoville it is customary to bend your knees slightly (There is a small step at the front door).
2. Zozoville only looks like a crazy whacked-out gallery and studio. It is actually a small village wherein everything is possible and artists run free without shackles or funny looking berets.
3. The guys in charge of this crazy town are Johan Potma and Mateo (they also happen to be the unshackled artists).
4. The village was settled in the late 2005’s (December-ish).
5. Zozoville isn’t really a village (I lied), it’s really a state of mind. When translated it translates roughly to this… »Johan with Mateo they to make painted on wood pictures with paint. Look picture, make feel funny in head.«
6. The artwork produced at Zozoville is willfully unusual and it shows, especially when they have shows (and by that I mean exhibitions).
7. If your job, or a project you are working on, is painfully »usual«, please note that the unshackled artists of Zozoville are happy to take on those wayward work projects and inject a bit of unusual Zozoville-ness into them.
8. The artists are notoriously notorious. They also live in Berlin (maybe that’s why).
9. The art of Mateo and Johan has been described as wonderful, fantastic, and imaginative (but that doesn’t stop them).
10. There are actually 11 things you should know about Zozoville.
